7 Day Uganda Safari
Gorillas, Chimpanzees, Lions, Elephants, Hippos, Buffaloes, Baboons, Giraffes, Zebras, Crocodiles, Antelopes Birds in abundance
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Mburo National Park
Seven days inclusive Safari taking in various National Parks in the southwest region of Uganda. From start to finish, an unforgettable Safari, that will remain with you for a long time.
Day One: Leave Kampala at an early hour for Bwindi which is a 9 hour to 10 hour drive depending on conditions. Drive toward Bwindi and stop to take lunch at Mbarara, bottled water included on journey, lunch is also included, drinks , tips are not covered, but everything else is, including water while in vehicle.
Arrive at your lodging during late afternoon and check-in. Dinner at the lodging which can be tented camp, hotel, or bandas (cabins) depending on choice and availability.
Day Two: Have an early breakfast and be at Bwindi headquarters for orientation and meeting with guides. Off it is for the Mountain Gorilla tracking experience which can be quite rigorous. The forest has many special trees unique to it, there are other mammals, bird and butterflies and of course the views are breathtaking. The tracking experience can be from a few hours to all day, but always rewarding. You will get within 5 meters of the gorillas and quietly observe them.
Afterwards it is a return to headquarters depending on time and your energy level a village walk, where you will see traditional ways, from brewing of beer to remedies made from the forest. There will be some dancing and entertaining and it is certainly worth your while.
Day Three: It is breakfast and check-out and off to Queen Elizabeth Park at Mweya which is about a 5 hour drive or more depending on road conditions in time for lunch at Mweya lodge which is up-market or the hostel that is there at budget pricing. After check in and lunch a time of rest and maybe lounging at the pool at Mweya lodge or sitting in then shade with a cool drink at the hostel.
Then it is the evening game drive with many animals to be seen lions, hyenas, elephants, antelopes of all kinds, leopards, birds and of course the snow capped Rwenzori Mountains in the distance, simply beautiful, the savannas stretching further than the eye can behold and you will experience a beautiful African sunset. This game drive will last up to three hours and cover quite a distance all in specially equipped safari vehicle so that you can stand up and take the best pictures possible.
Enjoy dinner back at your lodging facility and get a good nights rest.
Day Four: Early morning breakfast and off for a morning game drive with lots more animals to view, another day where you will find the sun rise as you go in search of some of the most fantastic animals in Africa, just outside of your vehicle, you will traverse some different terrain with some extinct volcano craters which are now lakes where animals come to water. Simply fabulous is what other guests have said.
Return to your lodging for a break and for lunch. After lunch it is off for a Kazinga Channel for a cruise of several hours viewing pelicans, more hippos than anywhere in Africa, view animals as they come to water and you will get some fantastic shots with your camera, of birds and animals.
This is always one of the highlights to Queen Elizabeth Park in Uganda and surely you will find it the same. Return to your lodging for dinner and rest for the night.
Day Five: Breakfast at your lodging and off to Kyambura Gorge for Chimpanzee tracking. You will get within 5 meters of them, they move nightly but your guide is experienced in their ways and will lead you to a group of them. Afterwards it is off to Maramagambo Forest where you will partake in a packed lunch and then a walk to a large bat cave where a large number of bats are present.
We slowly drive back to the lodging and view animals along the way. Dinner and rest at your lodging.
Day Six: Breakfast at your lodging and check out, then we proceed to Lake Mburo where you will either stay in an up-market tented camp or bandas (huts) for budget facility. Lunch at your lodging and then a boat cruise on the Lake viewing of hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, waterbuck and bushbuck. A relaxing time for you with lots of opportunities for pictures.
Late afternoon you will be on a guided game walk with a armed Uganda Wildlife Authority Ranger around the salt lick where many animals congregate in the late afternoon and early evening. Another opportunity for great picture taking. This is also one of the few places in Uganda where large amounts of zebras are to be found.
Back to your lodging…the up-market tented camp we use has an excellent view from the restaurant of a watering hole where you can watch animals come and still their thirst. Enjoy dinner and rest.
Day Seven: Early morning breakfast and a game drive through Lake Mburo Park viewing many animals and birds. You will love the Acacia Tree covered landscape and it will be feast for your eyes and ears.
Afterwards we depart for Kampala and stop off at Masaka for lunch for a visit to the equator for picture taking and then observing the famous Masaka Drum makers as they create these musical instruments. You can even buy one or two and take it with you.
We reach Kampala during the afternoon.
