Lake Mburo Uganda Safari

Lake Mburo is one of the smaller National Parks in Uganda. As such many people bypass it, and yet those who do visit find it to be a treasure of a place…a combination of lakes make up about one fifth of the park, while savanna, rolling hills, rocky places that are filled with forest with lots of Acacia Trees.
Lake Mburo is always a perfect spot to break up a long journey between Kampala and places such Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Queen Elizabeth or the Rwenzori mountains. Travelers find this the perfect place to spend a relaxing day and yet a day filled with activities that include game viewing, quality lodging and superb food.
2 Day Safari to Lake Mburo National Park – Uganda:
Day One: Leave Kampala from your accommodation at 7 am and proceed to Lake Mburo. QuLake Mburo Zebrasality Safari Vehicle with English Speaking Driver will be used for the journey. (German speaking Guide is available) We arrive Lake Mburo National Park before lunch. Check into accommodations with a choice of budget lodging or a first class tented camp that is ecologically friendly. Enjoy rest, lunch and maybe a walk. Late afternoon we embark on a launch trip on the lake from where you will see hippos, birds, and zebras from the water. Over 350 species of birds can be found at Lake Mburo and there are lots of a opportunities for pictures. Hopefully you will see the shoebill stork.
Lake Mburo HippoReturn to the lodging facility and enjoy the rest of the afternoon when you will take an evening game drive where leopards, antelopes, warthogs, baboons and monkeys can be viewed, besides large herds of zebras and antelopes, bush buck, impala, buffaloes.
Back to the lodging for dinner, there are two tented camps there that are actually fabulous and just staying there alone would be worth the trip. The night sounds of the wilderness as you sit on the porch of your tented camp are absolutely fantastic. Dinner at the tented camp is first class and is four to 5 course events.
Rest and sleep for the night.
Day Two: An early morning game drive where once again you will see an abundance of animals and be able to take pictures easily from the vehicle with its pop-up roof. A special guide will be along to make your experience more enriching. Breakfast can be had before or after game-drive…probably best to have some coffee or tea and then go on game drive and have a relaxing breakfast after you return from the game drive.
Then it is check-out and we take a packed lunch along the way…stopping off in Masaka where you can take some pictures as you stand on the equator. Masaka is also home of the famous Ugandan drum makers which you can visit and even purchase some.

Zebras at Lake Mburo
One Day Safari to Lake Mburo:
If you are limited for time a one day safari of Lake Mburo can be especially arranged for you without an overnight stay.
Leave Kampala at 5:30 or 6:am and take the 3 1/2 hour journey to Lake Mburo. Arrive at Lake Mburo around 9 to 9:30 am and take a morning game drive viewing various animals in their natural setting. Afterwards have lunch on the lake and take an afternoon boat ride viewing game, birds, hippos on the shore and in the water.
Depart for Kampala stopping off at the equator for picture taking and arrive in the late afternoon. Lunch, permits, game drive and boat launch trip, bottled water all included in the price.
