5 Day Mountain Gorilla Trek

Day One:  Leave Kampala early in the morning (pickup can be made from airport changing the schedule somewhat). Off towardBwindi Mountain Gorilla Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in the southwest of Uganda. (Depending on your permits, the order may be reversed with first going to Queen Elizabeth National Park first.

We use quality safari vehicles with English Guide Drivers who know the roads and ways of Uganda. Bottled water is provided for the journey, the safari price includes all meals, lodging, permits and entrance fees with the exception of tips and drinks with your meals.

Enjoy your drive though the Ugandan countryside and we have lunch at Mbarara Lake View Hotel and then after a break we move on toward Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park with its Moumountain gorilla with babyntain Gorillas.  We reach our destination late afternoon for rest and relaxation and dinner at either an up-market Tented camp or budget Bandas (cabins) both come with all meals included except drinks.

Up-scale Lodging is for the most part in Tented camps that are covered by thatched roof under which is the tent.  There is usually a covered porch under which you can relax in comfortable chairs and take a cup of coffee or tea in the morning.  All have attached bathrooms with flush toilet, warm showers and sinks.  The furnishings are usually quite nice and the food is fantastic, three to five course meals

Budget:  Consists of basic rooms with a mosquito net over bed, sometimes en-suite, food is basic but tasty.  There is a big difference in price between the two.  One is more celebratory than the other and the tented camp will leave a lasting, positive impression on you.

Day Two:  Rise and shine and have some breakfast, the breakfast at the tented camp will astound you in quality and quantity and choices available.  It is best to take a packed lunch with you…a small backpack it advised, a jacket, good hiking boots and plenty of energy for your day of traversing the ridges and hills of Bwindi Impenetrable Forest tracking the mountain gorillas of Uganda.Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Hills

We proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing and being grouped up with other visitors to Bwindi (maximum group being 8).  The tracking experience can be an all day experience, or it can be simply a few hours, depending on location of the group with whom you have permit.

You may assistance in climbing up and down the hills, if you do, local porters are available to assist you for a small fee.  No matter what you will get within a close distance to the mountain gorillas of Bwindi, fantastic pictures and or videos, memories that will stay with you forever.

If there is time in the afternoon, we will take a local village walk accompanied by a guide who will give you insights into the daily life of the pygmies living there and others.  You will see them prepare local brew, medicine, food, and the highlight will be a traditional dance.Kazinga Channel Hippos

Return to your lodging facility and enjoy dinner and rest:

Day Three:  Early Breakfast, pack a snack to tie you over to lunch and off to Queen Elizabeth National Park, we will enter the park at Ishasha where if we are lucky we just might some tree climbing lions along the way.  Our aim is to make this journey by lunch time so that we reach Mweya where you can either stay at the Lodge of Budget lodging.  Mweya is a lovely Peninsual that sits above Kazinga Channel and from the Lodge you can see a lot of animal activity.  After lunch we take a a rest break and that evening is our first game drive through the Park.Queen Elizabeth Park Buffaloes

There are lots of lions, giraffes, elephants, various antelopes, leopards, buffaloes, hyenas, monkeys, to be found here, you will not miss out on seeing animals.  Queen Elizabeth is a premier spot for wildlife in Uganda and you will see lots of it.  One of the drives will be through ancient crater lakes where you will find lots of animals down below by the water.  Besides we have not talked about the birds of which there are over 600 different species in this park, the landscape where in the distance you can see the majestic Rwenzori Mountains, the tallest mountain range in all of Africa, three peaks have glaciers on them, one of them is right on the equator.

The evening game drive lasts about 2 1/2 to three hours and at the end of it you return to your lodging facility for dinner and rest.

Elpehant at Queen Elizabeth Parkay Four:  Early breakfast and off to a morning game drive to take in more of the fabulous wildlife of Uganda.  Sights and sounds you have never heard before.  Pictures that you will relish for years to come as you shoot on film lions, elephants, giraffes, leopards, birds of various kinds, sunrise  and so much more.

Return to your lodging after game drive for rest and then lunch.  After lunch it is off to Kazinga Channel for a launch trip, slowly moving along the shore so that you do not miss the elephants, hippos, pelicans, buffaloes and the countless of birds you will find in and out of the water as you take your 3 to 3 hour cruise of the channel and Lake Edward and George.

Afterwards back to your lodging facility for dinner and rest.

Day 5:  Breakfast at the lodge or budget facility and off to Kampala, lunch in Mbarara at the Lake View Hotel and a stop over at Masaka for picture taking as you are on the equator.  Then back on the road and we reach Kampala in the late afternoon.
