Hotels in Kampala-Entebbe-Jinja-or any location in

From Shoestring to 5 Star Hotels here to meet your needs while staying in Uganda, East Africa

We can arrange for your stay in Kampala, Uganda or any other town or city in Uganda. From budget to 5 star Hotels are available for your choosing. A&O Tours will make sure that your accommodations needs are met in the manner that you desire.

Below are the different standards:

Up-Market: There are quite a few up-market hotels in Kampala and they can be upward to 400 dollars for a double per night depending on the kind of room that you choose.

Moderate: There is a difference between up-market and moderate, but moderate hotels are in-expensive, clean, often have nice restaurants and can range upward to around hundred dollars a night with breakfast being included. Most will have dstv, phones, internet access and more.

Budget: Is somewhere between 20 and 50 dollars per night for a double with breakfast. This is the kind of hotel often used by people living here. They are en-suite, sometimes a balcony. Food in the restaurant is mostly Ugandan. You can get a decent steak with chips (french fries), but if you are from USA ask for brown chips, since here they are often too soft to what westerners are used to.

Let us know what you are looking for and we will find you the place. For those that choose so, we also have non-alcoholic guesthouses that you can choose.

Vegetarians will have not too much of a problem in up-market or moderately prices hotels since there are many Indians who live here and are vegetarian, so hotels have come up with alternate menus for vegetarians.

Simply let us know the price range of hotel that you want and the duration so that we can obtain the best price and value for you to make your stay in Kampala, Entebbe, Jinja more enjoyable.

Usually prices for hotels are fixed at a nightly rate without discounts but we will get the best rate per night for you, especially as you are staying for a longer period of time.

Immunizations: You definitely need a yellow fever shot, and a world health record where it is a recorded in. There are other immunizations that you can easily find out about at your local tropical or travel clinic. Your family doctor can also look up requirements.
*

Malaria Regiment: There are three basic ones you can take. Mefloquine or Larium, some people get nightmares from it. It must be taken once a week. There is doxycycline that is the lowest in price and its sight effects can be sun sensitivity and some stomach problems. This one must be taken daily. Lastly there is Melarone which is the most expensive but has the least side effects, all are prescription drugs.
*

Mosquito Repellent: Depending on the length of stay here it is recommended that you bring some good mosquito repellent. Mosquito nets are at all places of accommodations where you might be staying.
*

Sun Protection: Use SPF 15 or more and bring it with you since prices locally on such items can be quite high.
*

Clothing: For the most part light clothing since you are coming to warm weather country. Boots would be good. If you are going to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or the Rwenzori mountains other clothing will be required. A jacket for Bwindi and for Rwenzori mountains some real warm clothing is advised.
*

Money: For the most part Uganda is a cash based society and credit cards are not accepted in most hotels, and other accommodations. Paraa and Mweya Lodge take a credit card but charge a fee of 6% as do other establishments that accept credit cards. Traveller Cheques can be a problem since they are hard to change and get a lower exchange rate. Dollars is the currency of choice in Uganda as in most of Africa. Bills must be clean and no older than 2003, it is best to use 100 dollar bills. You can use your ATM card at Barclay or Stanbic Banks and obtain Uganda Shillings. Forex Bureaus and Banks are everywhere for money exchange.
*

Cell Phones: If you have a quad International phone that is unlocked you can buy a local sim card and airtime from one of the four cell phone providers. An international are reasonably priced and can be placed from most locations in Uganda including safari destinations.
*

Visas: Can be easily obtained as you enter Uganda at the airport at Entebbe, or any other border crossing. A tourist visa is normally $50 dollars and can give you up to 90 days in Uganda. This is less expensive than getting a visa in the country of origin from the Ugandan Embassay where you need to send your passport paying for pictures, shipping back and forth.
*

Imodium: There are times when your stomach may get upset by eating different foods, it is best to take some along just in case to help you cope with traveler’s diarrhea.
*

Water: It is best to stick with bottled water to make your trip a safe one. Even for brushing of teeth we advice to use bottled water.
*

Medical Facilities: There are emergency medical services readily available to treat whatever your need may be.

Hopefully this provides some help for questions you might have. Should there be any other questions you might have, feel free to write us below.

A country that is stable and peaceful, where you will find some of the grandest sights in Africa. You can see some of the grandest sights in the world, from the snow and glacier covered Rwenzori mountains, to the many lakes, including the largest lake in all of Africa, Lake Victoria. You can do some of the best white water rafting in the world on the longest river in Africa, the Nile. You can visit fishing and pygmie villages, see the diverse species of birds in this country, and meet the Mountain Gorillas in the Southwest of Uganda at Bwindi Impenetrable where most of the surviving Mountain Gorillas in the world are to be found.

Visit the National Parks and find tree climbing Lions in Queen Elizabeth Park and traverse the Kanzinga Channel where you will find the largest concentration of Hippos in Africa. Fish the Nile, or Lake Victoria and pull out some tilapia fish for your dinner or one of the largest fresh-water fish in the world, the Nile Perch.

Rwenzori Mountains Mini-Hike – Semliki National Park Safari – Uganda

Mountains and Mountains and lots more mountains, snow covered peaks, glaciers on the equator, yet there are two factors that prevent many people from visiting this fantastic, tallest mountain range in all of Africa – Time and Money. In most cases people take a 7 day journey through the mountains can cost just for the hike and fees over 700 dollars USD per person. That does not include the transport and extra things needed. We get many requests for the Rwenzori mountains but the price and the time factors involved limit people from enjoying this fabulous region of Uganda, plus you will need a lot of less equipment and supplies.

Physical fitness is needed, Rwenzori is more challenging than the Kilimanjaro hike.

Take a look below and write to us regarding this fabulous mountain experience in the heart of Africa. This Mountain Safari can easily combined with another such as Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Mountain Gorilla Safari, and or Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda Safari.

Day one: We leave Kampala early in the morning and head off for Fort Portal the gateway to our excursion into the Rwenzori Mountains, or also referred to as the Mountains of the Moon. The ride will take us through an ever changing Ugandan countryside where you will see the Pearl of Africa in an up-close manner. Lunch along the way which is included in the price. We offer free bottled water during the journey. We reach Fort Portal in the late afternoon and check in to Up-Market, moderate or budget accommodations. Dinner at the place where you are lodging.

Day Two: We have an early breakfast, check our equipment, clothing and hiking shoes, take backpack and drive up to an altitude of 1,650 ,meters at the Kazingo Trading Center. That is our trailhead.

We begin our journey upward to 3000 meter elevation, through bamboo forests, and other vegetations, seeing various monkeys, birds and different plants along the way. We take our packed lunch at Kighomu community campsite where chimps are nearby, so the locals tell you, but quite hard to find.

From the ridge of our climb it will take us two hours to climb down to the town of Bundibugyo where we spend the night with dinner and rest at the Vanilla Hotel.

Day Three: Breakfast and depart for Semliki National Park with its unmatched scenery and visiting Sempaya Hotsprings , we will take some short hikes, visit a pygmy village and view game and birds along the ay.

Lunch at Semliki, then we enjoy the hot springs and journey back to Fort Portal for our stay.

Day three can be excluded and we can head back to Kampala on that day depending on your schedule or add another venue on day three.

Day Four: We have breakfast and head back to Kampala reaching there in the early evening hours.
