Uganda Safari Africa

When someone thinks of Uganda, they usually come up with one thing – Idi Amin – the infamous president now made famous by the movie “The Last King of Scotland.”  Yet Uganda is much more than that, it is a country the size of England with 30 million people, of whom it is said that they are the friendliest people in all of Africa.

A country that is stable and peaceful, where you will find some of the grandest sights in Africa.  You can see some of the grandest sights in the world, from the snow and glacier covered Rwenzori mountains, to the many lakes, including the largest lake in all of Africa, Lake Victoria.  You can do some of the best white water rafting in the world on the longest river in Africa, the Nile.  You can visit fishing and pygmie villages, see the diverse species of birds in this country, and meet the Mountain Gorillas in the Southwest of Uganda at Bwindi Impenetrable where most of the surviving Mountain Gorillas in the world are to be found.

Visit the National Parks and find tree climbing Lions in Queen Elizabeth Park and traverse the Kanzinga Channel where you will find the largest concentration of Hippos in Africa.  Fish the Nile, or Lake Victoria and pull out some tilapia fish for your dinner or one of the largest fresh-water fish in the world, the Nile Perch.

Lake Mburo Uganda Safari

Simply Fabulous – Only 3 1/2 hours from Kampala…The perfect place for a 2 day Uganda Safari.  If you are limited on time and want a taste of Uganda Wildlife – this is one Safari that can be completed in 2 days.

Lake Mburo is one of the smaller National Parks in Uganda.  As such many people bypass it, and yet those who do visit find it to be a treasure of a place…a combination of lakes make up about one fifth of the park, while savanna, rolling hills, rocky places that are filled with forest with lots of Acacia Trees.

Lake Mburo is always a perfect spot to break up a long journey between Kampala and places such Bwindi Impenetrable Forest or Queen Elizabeth or the Rwenzori mountains.  Travelers find this the perfect place to spend a relaxing day and yet a day filled with activities that include game viewing, quality lodging and superb food.

2 Day Safari to Lake Mburo National Park – Uganda:

Day One:  Leave Kampala from your accommodation at 7 am and proceed to Lake Mburo.  QuLake Mburo Zebrasality Safari Vehicle with English Speaking Driver will be used for the journey.  (German speaking Guide is available) We arrive Lake Mburo National Park before lunch.  Check into accommodations with a choice of budget lodging or a first class tented camp that is ecologically friendly.  Enjoy rest, lunch and maybe a walk.  Late afternoon we embark on a launch trip on the lake from where you will see hippos, birds, and zebras from the water.  Over 350 species of birds can be found at Lake Mburo and there are lots of a opportunities for pictures. Hopefully you will see the shoebill stork.

Lake Mburo HippoReturn to the lodging facility and enjoy the rest of the afternoon when you will take an evening game drive where leopards, antelopes, warthogs, baboons and monkeys can be viewed, besides large herds of zebras and antelopes, bush buck, impala, buffaloes.

Back to the lodging for dinner, there are two tented camps there that are actually fabulous and just staying there alone would be worth the trip.  The night sounds of the wilderness as you sit on the porch of your tented camp are absolutely fantastic.  Dinner at the tented camp is first class and is four to 5 course events.

Rest and sleep for the night.

Day Two:  An early morning game drive where once again you will see an abundance of animals and be able to take pictures easily from the vehicle with its pop-up roof.  A special guide will be along to make your experience more enriching.  Breakfast can be had before or after game-drive…probably best to have some coffee or tea and then go on game drive and have a relaxing breakfast after you return from the game drive.

Then it is check-out and we take a packed lunch along the way…stopping off in Masaka where you can take some pictures as you stand on the equator. Masaka is also home of the famous Ugandan drum makers which you can visit and even purchase some.

Zebras at Lake Mburo

One Day Safari to Lake Mburo:

If you are limited for time a one day safari of Lake Mburo can be especially arranged for you without an overnight stay.

Leave Kampala at 5:30 or 6:am and take the 3 1/2 hour journey to Lake Mburo.  Arrive at Lake Mburo around 9 to 9:30 am and take a morning game drive viewing various animals in their natural setting.  Afterwards have lunch on the lake and take an afternoon boat ride viewing game, birds, hippos on the shore and in the water.

Depart for Kampala stopping off at the equator for picture taking and arrive in the late afternoon.  Lunch, permits, game drive and boat launch trip, bottled water all included in the price.

Combine This Safari Destination with others such as Gorilla Tracking at Bwindi, Chimp tracking at Kibale Forest, Wildlife at Queen Elizabeth Park.

Queen Elizabeth National Park Safari – Uganda

Savannas, extinct volcanoes, lakes, and of course lots of animals, birds, bat caves, chimpanzees all in the shadows of the tallest mountain range in Africa, the Rwenzori Mountains.  One of the larger parks in UgMweya Lodge at Queen Elizabeth Parkanda and one of the most popular ones since it is located near Kibale Forest with its chimpanzees, Bwindi Forest with its gorillas and you can also visit Lake Mburo either on the way to Queen Elizabeth or on the return journey.

There is a budget facility and also an upscale one at Mweya, which is also home of Mweya Lodge where Queen Elizabeth has stayed and other famous people.

There is a diversity in this park from bat caves to tree climbing lions in one section of the park, from flamingoes to chimpanzees, from elephants to giraffes, from the highest concentration of hippos in all of Africa to leopards, along with all kinds of antelopes, warthogs, hyenas, birds of all kinds, butterflies and much more.

Both budget and upscale lodging are in the same location and as one sits at Mweya lodge you can overlook Kazinga channel with all of its wildlife and just take in the African wilderness.

Below you will find a three day safari that most people choose, you can however stay another day and visit the chimpanzees, bat caves and search for tree climbing lions in one section of the Park.

The difference between Budget and up-market Safari is this one thing, the accommodations.  The price for transport, safari vehicle, driver and entrance fees, game drives remains the same, the only thing that changes is the accommodation cost.

Budget or up-scale, the game drives will be the same for you, the viewing of animals is no different as you move along the game drives or launch trip on Kazinga channel

Day One:  Depart Kampala preferably at 6 am (prompt) in the morning so that we can check in at lunch time at your budget accommodation or Mweya Lodge by one pm for lunch, take a snack along, and we provide bottled water for the journey.  The vehicles we use are proper safari vehicles with pop-up roofs that maximize your ability to view animals and also take the best pictures.

Check in at your lodging at Queen Elizabeth Park and enjoy lunch, take a rest and if you are at Mweya Lodge you can dive into the pool and cool off.

Toward late afternoon you are off on your first game drive – off to see the animals with a guide who knows where to find the animals that you have come to see. Hopefully you will see your share of lions, giraffes, elephants, buffaloes and many others, including birds, monkeys, baboons.  Keep your camera ready.  The drive is two to three hours and then you head back to your lodging facility where you will relax and enjoy a well deserved rest.

Day Two:  Early breakfast and off or your second game drive for more animals in different locations some up hills and you will be looking down at some extinct volcanoes that have become crater lakes with animals coming to find water.

Lunch at the place where you are staying and then in the afternoon it is the Kazinga Channel with the largest concentration of hippos in all of Africa (one factoid is that they kill more people than other animal in Africa). Kazinga channel connects Lake Edward and Lake George and you will be staying close to the shore for maximum animal and bird viewing, there will be lots to see for you and once again the camera is best kept ready, including swarms of pelicans, elephants, hippos, buffaloes and lots with more birds such the Fish Eagle.  This is one boat ride you do not want to miss.

Dinner back your lodging facility and rest for the night.

Day Three:  It is breakfast and off to Kampala with a stop off for lunch at Mbarara at the Lake View Hotel and back on the road with a stop-off at the equator at Masaka for picture taking and also a visit to the drum makers of Masaka who are the best in Uganda.

You will arrive late afternoon early evening in Kampala.

Murchison Falls Park Safaris have become a favorite amongst the visitors to Uganda and one of the major reasons are the falls and ability take an extended boat ride on the Nile viewing animals on the banks of the river.

Murchison Falls Park 3 Day Safari in the largest Park in Uganda:

Day One:  We depart Kampala early in the morning and we provide bottled water along the journey.  It is best to depart at 6 am.  This allows us to arrive for lunch at either Paraa Lodge (upscale) or Red Chilli Mother and her cubs at Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda(Budget).  After lunch relax and take in the sun either near the pool in Paraa or overlooking the Nile from the restaurant at Red Chilli.  If you are staying at Paraa Lodge you will be crossing the Nile to reach your lodging destination by ferry. If at Red Chilli you will cross the Nile for your evening game drive.

In the late afternoon it is off to your first game drive where you will see lions, elephants, giraffes, antelopes of all types, warthogs, buffaloes, all from a safari designed vehicle. Be sure to have extra batteries and also an extra memory card for your camera, or simply enough film.

Elephants coming for water at the Nile River.This is not a hurried event, but you slowly drive along the lake into the savannah and usually it will be about 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Sights, sounds, and of course a most wonderful sunset as you return to your lodging facility for a delightful dinner.  At Paraa Lodge you will be sitting on the veranda overlooking the Nile, at Red Chilli you can see the Nile below as you eat your dinner.

Enjoy the moment as you reflect on your day, the quiet of the wilderness only broken by an occasional sound of an animal in the distance.

Day Two:  An early breakfast and then off to a second game drive.  Guiding you to where thBuffalo at Murchison Falls National Park in Ugandae animals are so that you have the best opportunity for viewing and picture taking.  There is nothing like seeing some lion cubs with their mother, Giraffes grazing and Elephants moving across the savanna.  You return to the lodging facility for rest and lunch.

After lunch it is one of the highlights of your Murchison Falls National Park Safari, the boat launch trip on the Nile.  You will move up toward Murchison Falls viewing crocodiles, an abundance of hippos, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, lots of birds including the fish eagle, storks and so much more. The boat moves gently up the river, it is best to take some water along since it can get warm.

The Falls are an awesome display of the power of nature.  The river is 50 meters above the falls, moves down through a 7 meter gorge and falls down 43 meters, the sound is deafening and the sight makes one realize how powerful nature can be.

Nearby is a bank filled with Nile crocodiles basking in the afternoon sun, just down from there you can see a group of hippos frolicking in the water of the Nile.

The journey down river slowly begins and more opportunity for viewing animals before you return toNile Crocodile on the Nile at Murchison Falls Natinonal Park your lodging for dinner and an evening of rest and relaxations .

Day 3:  You have breakfast at your lodging and then the journey toward Kampala begins.  From Paraa Lodge we cross the Nile for the last time, from Red Chilli we head toward the top of Murchison Falls for a walk around and see the falls from above.

We reach Kampala in the late afternoon after seeing many sights that reflect the different parts of Uganda including our verHippo yawning while in the Nile River at Murchison Falls National Park in Ugandasion of fast food service at various places where you can buy shish kebabs with chicken or beef, cooked cassava, juice, or roasted maize or bananas.

We stop at Masindi at the Masindi Hotel for lunch.

The safari is inclusive with water while traveling in the vehicle, all food, it does not include drinks at restaurants.  Tips are not included in the price.  Quotations are in US Dollars, but can be paid in any currency such as Euros, UK Pounds, and Uganda Shillings.

Two delightful options to your Murchison Falls National Park Safari:

Budongo Forest Chimpanzee Tracking – An old growth Mahogany Forest with an abundance ofChimp at Budongo Forest in Uganda Chimpanzees.  Walk amongst them, take pictures, or just view them in their natural habitat.

This option would be added on day three of your safari.  It is not far from Murchison Falls Park and is one of the best places in Uganda to track chimpanzees.

Our clients have enjoyed this option and it is often added on to the safari.  The tracking experience should take place in the morning and lasts about 2 hours.

Hippos at Ziwa Reserve near Masindi, UgandaZiwa Rhino Reserve – This options allows you to see Rhinos in a natural setting.  Rhinos were almost wiped out by past wars such as the Amin and the two Obote regimes.  The Rhino reserve is Uganda’s way of rehabilitating these animals so that they can be placed back into places such as Murchison Falls National Park.

Visitors love this option and are accompanied by a guide who knows where the animals are to be found.  This is another two hour option for you that will make your safari more complete.
